MATTHEW is driving his massive logging truck and leaves his precious daughter sleeping as he ducks into roadside washroom. Otherwise, this sounds like a very interesting project from the director of THE SWEET HEREAFTER, FELICIA’S JOURNEY, and WHERE THE TRUTH LIES. Of course, Ryan Reynolds is no Hugh Jackman, but the guy is still an untapped talent in my opinion. That is not to say that it is a carbon copy, but they both deal with parents seeking vengeance on those who have hurt their children. THE CAPTIVE, previously titled QUEEN OF THE NIGHT, is likely heading to the festival circuit next year and sounds a lot like what we saw just recently from the acclaimed Hugh Jackman/ Terrence Howard thriller PRISONERS.
